University of Waterloo

Research Study Description
This online website, http://www.ingimp.org, is a publicly-accessible website hosted by the School of Computer Science at the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada. This website is made available to support research in open source usability. This research is being led by Dr. Michael Terry (mterry@cs.uwaterloo.ca). This document is a consent agreementto gain your consent for participation in this research effort. It also outlines the terms of use of this website.

Terms of Use
By accessing this website, you agree to the following terms. If you do not agree to all of the following terms, then please do not access and/or use this website. These terms may change at any time, at which point an announcement will be made on the website. Your continued usage of the website, after changes have been made to its terms of use, mean you agree to the terms of use as they are updated and/or amended.

This website includes the ability to post content through facilities including, but not limited to, "Comments" and the wiki software. You agree not to post any material that is abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated, or that may violate any laws, be it of your country, Canada, or International Law. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned, with notification to your Internet Service Provider if deemed required by us. The IP addresses of all posts are recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that the operators of this website have the right to remove, edit, move, or close any post, topic, information, content, and/or file at any time should we see fit. As a user of this site, you agree to have any information that you enter into the site to be stored in a database.

This website is intended to host discussions related to ingimp (http://www.ingimp.org), an instrumented version of GIMP that automatically collects usability information for the public to view and analyze. It is also intended to support open, collaborative data analysis via the StatsJam software, a modified wiki. An important part of this research effort is understanding how this software (the website and its various services and capabilities) can affect open source usability processes. Consequently, we will analyze content on this website to investigate research questions such as how the community reacts to, and participates in, the overall usability process. By using this website and its software and services, you agree that your posts may be quoted, summarized, paraphrased, or otherwise analyzed and presented in future publications and/or presentations, without future consultation.
