Help: Using ingimp

ingimp is meant to be a snap-in replacement for the GIMP. The only real differences are:

  • Its additional start-up screen reminding you that you are using a special, instrumented version of the GIMP
  • The log upload screen that appears when exiting the application

In this section, we describe the options available in the start-up screen.

Start-up screen options

ingimp's start-up screen can be seen below.

ingimp splash screen

There are four options available to you on this screen:

  • Activity tags
  • "Website + Stats" button
  • "Launch Now" button
  • Temporarily disabling logging

Activity tags

Activity tags are optional tags you can add to describe how you plan on using ingimp. You can enter any text you would like to describe your planned use, but try to complete the sentence, "I will be doing...". Any text you enter will be added to the log file. These tags help indicate how people use the software, and how they describe their activities. These tags can also serve as filters in data analysis in StatsJam section.

Website + Stats button

The "Website + Stats" button takes you directly to the StatsJam section of the website.

Launch Now button

"Launch Now" starts the GIMP.

Temporarily disabling logging

You can temporarily disable logging by checking the "Disable application usage logging for this run" button. Note that you must check this box every time you want to disable logging.
